Snapshots of Bracknell and Surrounding Areas

Bracknell, Berkshire, a small town where I live. Every day I see sights that make me think, 'that would make a good photo', so I've decided to carry a camera around with me, and if I see something that appeals, I'll take a photo of it, a snapshot. I'm not a photographer, and I'm not using a very expensive camera, but I thought I'd share pictures of the place I live, the good, the bad and the ugly. I hope you enjoy the photo's I take.

Westmorland Park and Surrounding Area - on a Very Cold Day in March

I've neglected this Blog for a while, or more to the point... a whole year! A lot has changed in a year, especially with the redevelopment of the town centre. I will post photo's of the progress at a later date. I will endeavour to update this Blog on more regular basis, starting with the following photographs...

Went for a walk today around Westmorland Park - 'Westmorland Park is an eight-hectare site in Warfield. A large variety of recreational activities are catered for through the network of paths, open spaces, play areas and pavilion. Wildlife can be spotted in the balancing pond or at Hayley Green Wood Local Nature Reserve which lies next door.'

It started to get a little bit muddy!

A return of firmer ground!

Point Royal

Bracknell has many buildings, and landmarks of beauty, with equal amounts of buildings, and landmarks that are decidedly ugly. Point Royal in Easthampstead is one of those buildings that is a bit like Marmite, some love it, some hate it, I'm in the latter mind. But it is unusual, and currently holds the title of Bracknell's tallest building. From a distance it looks like some form of post office tower, it's not until you get a lot closer that you see it's actually a block of flats.

Demolition of Winchester House (3M Building)

Here's an up-to-date photograph of the current demolition of Winchester House, or as most know it as, The 3M Building. This is supposed to be completely demolished by the end of this month, February.

This building, Bracknell's most famous eyesore, erm... I mean landmark, will be replaced with new flats, and a shopping centre.

Lily Hill Park

Lily Hill Park is a Green Flag Award winning 23-hectare public open space, located to the north east of Bracknell and less than a mile from the town centre.

A beautiful, tranquil park, popular with dog walkers.

Binfield Public Footpath

Rambled down this Public Footpath in Binfield yesterday, probably the most slim footpath I've ever walked along, more like a rural alley-way.

Pope's Meadow

Once part of the grounds of Pope’s Manor, this small 13.7 acres of established parkland located in Binfield is a valuable countryside resource for quiet informal recreation for the local community and provides a haven for wildlife.

Not very big, but nice and quiet, a great place to take your dog, and let it have a run around.
